A teacher asked one of her primary students to describe Salt. “Well, um, its…,” he started, then stopped. He tried again. “Salt is, you know, its…” Finally he said, “Salt is what makes French fries taste bad when you don’t sprinkle it on.” Many foods are like that…incomplete without a key ingredient. Imagine pizza without cheese etc. Love is one of the essential ingredients of our Christian life.
There is a story about a man who had a huge stone in his front yard. He grew weary of this big, unattractive stone in the center of his lawn and decided to take advantage of it and turn it into an object of art. He began to work on it with his hammer and chisel and chipped away at the huge boulder until it became a beautiful stone elephant. One day a farmer’s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried disparately for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided that the animal was very old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just was not worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. Everyone grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening

There were two brothers who lived on adjoining farms, but they had a deep quarrel. They had often shared their resources, but that practice stopped; and there was nothing left but bitterness. One day the younger brother hired a bulldozer and built a creek between the two properties. In a few days the older brother took the carpenter to where the two properties met and showed him how the other brother had taken a bulldozer and created a creek where the meadow used to be.
