The Power of the Holy Spirit

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Acts 10:38:

The power of the Holy Ghost was on Jesus and it manifested in visible miracles, signs and wonders. In a similar way when the power came upon the apostles, God was confirming their messages with signs and wonders. The Church of Jesus needs the power of the Holy Ghost today more than ever before. We are in an era that people need to see the signs and wonders for them to believe and for those who have believe to hold on steadfastly without wavering.

If the Church will be effective in the preaching of the gospel to the dying world today, we need the manifestation of the power of the Holy Ghost, and we can get it if we are ready to walk in obedience to the word of God, ready to be used by God and willing to return all the glory back unto Him.
We will look at the power of the Holy Spirit in four dimensions:

1. THE CREATIVE DIMENSION OF HIS POWER
The creation of the heavens above us is said to be the work of God’s Spirit. By his spirit he has garnished the heavens. Job 26:13

In addition, the Holy Spirit’s power is displayed in those continued acts of creation which are still performed in the world; such as the creation and birth of men, women, and animals. The creation of every man and woman is the work of the Holy Spirit. The creation of all life and all flesh in this world is as much to be ascribed to the power of the Holy Spirit as the creation of the heavens. Though our Lord Jesus Christ was born of a woman and made in the likeness of sinful flesh, yet the power that conceived him came entirely from God the Holy Spirit-as the Scriptures reveal, the Angel Gabriel said to Mary, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God” (Luke 1:35). The physical body of the Lord Jesus Christ was a masterpiece of the Holy Spirit.
Today we can still believe God for the creative dimension of the power of the Holy Spirit. New things that are missing but needed can be created by Him. He promised to make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

2. THE RESTORATIVE DIMENSION OF HIS POWER
The Holy Spirit has capacity to restore what has been stolen, killed and destroyed. Jesus manifested so as to destroy the works of the devil through the power of the Holy Spirit. It was the power of Holy Spirit by which the body of Jesus was raised from the grave after having laid there for three days and nights. In 1 Peter 3:18, “Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit.” Also in Romans 8:11, “If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.”
We can also believe God for the restorative dimension of the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives today. Any part of our body that is dead can be restored back to life. Dead brain, dead womb, dead organs can all be restored back to life by the power of the Holy Spirit. Even dead businesses, dead careers, dead marriages or even dead ministry will come back to life if we believe the Holy Spirit for the restorative dimensions of His power.
He promised to restore all the years that caterpillar and canker worms had eaten. Whatsoever is missing, destroyed or stolen from us can be restored by His power.

3. THE PROTECTIVE DIMENSION OF HIS POWER
One of the dimensions of the power of the Holy Spirit is protection. The Lord promised that at any time the enemies come against us like a flood, the Holy Spirit will raise a standard against the enemy (Isaiah 59:19). He is committed to our safety and security and will not allow the wicked to prevail over our lives.
As a child of God you are entitled to divine protection by the power of the Holy Spirit, against dangers and troubles both in the physical and the spiritual, because He never sleep nor slumber. You are not to entertain any fear in the face of dangers but to trust His protective power to shield you and keep you safe.

4. THE DESTRUCTIVE DIMENSION OF HIS POWER
The Lord is a consuming fire, and the destructive dimension of the power of the Holy Spirit can come to play when His wrath comes upon a man. An instance was when Elymas became blind at the commandment of Apostle Paul (Acts 13:6-12)
We also saw how the judgment of God came upon Ananias and Sapphirra his wife when Peter said that they lie unto the Holy Spirit (Acts 5: 1-10). We need to live in the reverent fear of the Lord, because as He can bless us, He also has capacity to consume through the destructive dimension of the power of the Holy Spirit.
If we are going to enjoy the kingdom of God maximally, we need the manifestation of the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. In the same way, the kingdom of God cannot expand or advance unless the Church today will show forth this power.
